Kids Day Hike: Along the Breton coast between Fouesnant and Beg Meil (10,3 km)

Date: Monday, July 5th, 2021

Path: Own route + GR34

Distance: 10,3 km

Ascent: 43m

Descent: 100m

In the busy work schedule, I managed to make some time for a day trip along the Breton coast with my son. We set off from his grandmother's house in Fouesnant to the lighthouse of Beg Meil. A walk of 10 km. The rain was also present.

Via the village square of Fouesnant, where you can watch Breton pancakes being made in the local crêperie, we went to the Anse de Penfoulic. This bay is very much subject to the tidal currents and while we are walking along it, the boats were on dry land. There is plenty of opportunity for refreshments at Cap Coz. We stopped there for a moment, before starting the most beautiful part of the hike; the coastal path (GR34 and Sentier Côtier) between Cap Coz and Beg Meil. It goes up and down along several beautiful bays, over rocks and small beaches. The hike ends at the lighthouse of Beg Meil, situated inside a military domain.

By public transport: This hike is not reachable by public transport. The route lies mostly on the GR34 Sentier des Douaniers, the long distance path following most of the Breton coast line.
